One of Cedar Rapids’ first skyscrapers, the 10-story American Building, was built in 1914. Tenants of the 104-year-old building were looking to double the space to accommodate growth while paying homage to this historic structure.  The solution included a renovation of the existing building alongside a modern 10-story addition. Unitized curtain wall brings an abundance of natural light into the space and a custom backlit entry feature welcomes employees and guests. AWS partnered with Seedorff Masonry, Inc. on the exterior of this unique addition to downtown Cedar Rapids.
