What started as a way to reduce expenses and better allow us to manage project schedules, AWS has been manufacturing our own systems for more than fifteen years. With our goal to be a single source wall contractor, it made perfect sense. We knew that successful manufacturing takes years of time and commitment, so since starting this endeavor AWS has made that investment in order to create state-of-the art custom systems for less.

We own two manufacturing facilities in the state of Iowa, which allow us to be flexible in allocating resources. With these resources, we are able to stage the delivery of our materials to the job as needed so that our field installation sequencing is uninterrupted.

Utilization
A wide array of benefits come from using unitized systems. A primary advantage for these types of systems is the control achieved during the construction process. Unitized systems are constructed in a controlled environment (unlike in the field), where the seals and tooling can be monitored with higher quality control. Increasing automation of processes also results in a more consistent and timely product application.

Unitized systems arrive at the job site ready to be set, which helps tp enclose the building faster. This saves time for the overall schedule and allows interior trades to progress sooner. The unitized system saves both time and labor in the field, allowing for increased savings across the board.

Increased safety in the field is yet another benefit to the unitized system. When units are delivered per floor and elevation, the logistics of installation improve and the field team can plan efficiently. This allows us to create better safety plans and work more efficiently.

Sustainability
LEED: AWS has LEED Accredited Professionals on staff in addition to our architects. We have completed several LEED certified projects from Certified through Platinum. Our experience with LEED documentation is one less thing for you to worry about. Our team can also assist you with solutions for credit.

BIM: Because we have architects on staff, AWS can interface with your BIM related needs. Whether you are utilizing Revit or AutoCAD, we have the ability to integrate seamlessly with your team.

IPD: AWS has always supported the concept of Integrated Project Delivery, so to see this platform emerge from the national level of the AIA is exciting for us. The collaborative nature of design is something we look forward to assisting you with early in the process. Our team of architects and engineers will share with you a variety of ways to accomplish your project’s overall objectives.

LEAN: LEAN Construction methods that seek to streamline communication and documentation have been implemented on several of AWS’ recent projects. Our project management teams attend educational seminars offered by the AGC as well as our local Master Builders of Iowa group. Our goal is to speak the same “language” as the teams we work with, and to provide the highest level of project delivery technology. This is maintained through consistent ongoing education for our team.

SOURCING: Sustainability means knowing what products and methods to use to lessen the impact on our environment. Allow AWS to guide you in choosing the products that will meet the sustainability objectives for your projects. Our local, national and global partnerships enable us to provide solutions that meet your needs.
