TD Ameritrade headquarters houses 1,300 of the online brokerage's 2,000 metro-area employees, with the remainder in a cluster of buildings across the street. The offices make extensive use of energy-efficient lighting, solar power and water conservation techniques.
The building is one of the most energy efficient and inspirational office towers in America and it sets a new standard in capturing rainwater for later use and utilizes solar power to heat it. Construction began in July 2010 under the direction of HOK Architects with Omaha's Kiewit Building Group as the general contractor. Based on the efficiency of the design, TD Ameritrade estimates that annual operating costs decreased by 50 percent. AWS engineered, manufactured and installed the custom designed aluminum metal panels, corrugated metal panels, curtain wall, aluminum column covers and entrances for this 208,000 SF project. AWS’ preconstruction scope included design assist services, BIM modeling and performance mockup testing. This project was targeted at LEED Platinum certification with several sustainable uses such as an interior that allows for natural light and fresh air to enter, and a unique water supply system that salvages rain water for use in the building’s toilets and urinals. AWS engineered and installed a unitized Canadian Rain Screen to the building’s envelope while also engineering and framing sing, revolving, and automatic entrances. |
