ABOUT US
OUR TEAM
Our professional staff of sales people, estimators, engineers,
project managers, and field superintendents understand the
importance of establishing and keeping good relationships. The
AWS team consists of approximately 20 construction management
personnel and approximately 60 journeymen craftsmen. Our clients
know when they collaborate with AWS, they're connecting with a
team they can trust to not only meet, but exceed their
expectations with the most innovative and cost-effective
solutions.
From conception to completion, the AWS team handles all aspects
of the exterior skin of your building. Communication plays a key
role. Design Engineers and Estimators work together to discuss
design intent, assess your specific needs and to assure budget
considerations.
Journeymen craftsmen from both the ironworker and glazier unions
make up the team who transforms the design and planning into
reality. Engineering, fabrication and assemblies completed by
AWS and its suppliers are then installed by our own field
personnel.
Project managers and project coordinators guide the project
through the approval processes, handling all communications with
the general contractor and owner's representatives to facilitate
schedules, making sure everything is delivered on time. Field
Superintendents and craftsmen work with project management to
erect and install products, without injury, to meet the master
construction schedule.
OUR PROJECTS
Many of the projects completed by AWS feature "Drained and Back
Ventilated Rain Screen" designed walls, with high performance,
spectrally selective glazing. This wall technology tunes the
building envelope, taking advantage of natural light, reduced
HVAC systems, and places the insulation (and dew point) outside
of the building. Placing the insulation outside of the air
barrier provides uninterrupted insulation, eliminates
condensation inside the wall cavity, and removes any possibility
for mold growth.
The Levitt Center is a prime example of AWS innovation at its
finest. The project features "Back Ventilated Rain Screen"
utilizing Indiana limestone, aluminum plate, aluminum windows
and curtain walls, louvers, and sunscreens. The challenge was to
assure the entire envelope had a complete uninterrupted air
barrier, so that when interfaced with glazed openings and
louvers all air barrier continuity was maintained.
Architectural Wall Systems' innovative solution to this
difficult challenge earned them the American Institute of
Architect's 1999 Excellence in Craftsmanship Award.
Architectural Wall Systems also specializes in providing
stunning interior glass finishes. The Krause Gentle Corporate
Headquarters is a fine example of how AWS can offer beautiful
design solutions while maintaining the integrity of wall
performance. AWS not only provided the exterior window system,
open joint rain screen design, aluminum composite panels,
skylight system, and sunshades, but also the interior glass
walls, glass stair treads and custom glass handrail.
